Senior Executive Officer – Communications and Public Affairs Office
(Ref: SEO (CPAO) 2021-09-24)

Responsibilities
  • develop public relations and marketing strategies to achieve branding and promotion objectives set by the leadership team;
  • initiate media relations activities, including media events, interview and enquiries;
  • responsible for integrating creative and effective content through different channels, including but not limited to public relations, marketing, social media, website, editorial, and research promotion, to achieve overall school and program-specific goals for HSUHK;
  • manage and coordinate University events and activities including public relations, marketing, media relations, branding, publicity and promotion, etc.;
  • keep abreast of important trends in the marketing and communications industry and incorporate best practices, particularly as it applies to higher education;
  • responsible for creation and distribution of various types of content and storytelling (e.g., magazine, website, promotional brochures, newsletters, blogs, emails, interviews) and formats (i.e., print, digital, video, social media and event-based) that engage key audiences of current and prospective students, alumni, donors and corporate partners;
  • in collaboration with the University partners and different industries, effectively deliver messages that enhance the visibility and reputation of HSUHK;
  • build and maintain strong and productive relationships with journalists in both print, social and electronic media;
  • handle crisis communication and management; and
  • assist in developing the annual budget and maintain spending within budget while achieving overall goals.

 

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a recognised degree or above, preferably in communications, public relations, journalism, business, marketing, advertising or related disciplines;
  • have at least 8 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, social media and writing/editorial, with progressively more responsibilities at a medium-sized or large organisation;
  • possess excellent communication skills, media relations experience and network, sound judgement, strong collaborative instincts, administration and instruction in various writing styles, and highly developed leadership skills;
  • have a deep understanding and handling of public and media relations, social media, crisis communication, branding and the ability to apply that knowledge within a collaborative team;
  • have strong connections with media and the business sector;
  • be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere and effectively meet deadlines while remaining flexible and accommodating;
  • have exceptional writing, editing and message development skills, and experience in strategic planning and execution; 
  • have demonstrated project management and organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently and to exercise initiative; and
  • have excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Working outside normal office hours may be required.
