The University now invites application for the following position:

 

Library Assistant (Collections and Technical Services) – Library
(Ref: LA (LIB) 2019-11-29)

Responsibilities
  • assist with the acquisitions of library materials in all formats, includes following through orders, claiming, receiving materials, processing invoices and payment, and communicating with faculties and library vendors;
  • manage bibliographic, order and item records;
  • follow up reading lists in module outlines; 
  • assist in preparing new arrivals list and compiling acquisitions statistics;
  • participate in library-wide services and projects such as organizing book fairs; and
  • perform shift duties at service counters.

 

 

Applicants Should
  • possess a recognized university degree and the Certificate for Library Assistant or equivalent;
  • have experience in acquisitions work preferably in an academic library;
  • be familiar in using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and integrated library management system; and
  • have good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to manage complex tasks.

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings and on weekends.  Applicants with work experience in the higher education sector will be an advantage.
